Pte Jeffrey BEESLEY, 16th (Reserve) Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment and later of 94th Training Reserve Battalion is buried in the South-East of the Churchyard.
He died of illness at Chiseldon Camp on 7th April 1917, aged 18.
He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial, the St Mark’s Church Roll of Honour and the Badgeworth (Holy Trinity Church) War Memorial.
His parents, Edwin and Sarah Beesley, resided at 2 Hatherley Lane, Cheltenham. |
2Lt Sidney Albert SCRIVEN, Royal Air Force, is buried in the South of the Churchyard.
He died on 14th March 1920, aged 20, and was buried on 19th March 1920. His home address in the Church Burial Register is recorded as 120 High Street, Merthyr.
His brother, LCpl Gilbert George SCRIVEN, is commemorated on the grave. He was killed in action on 12th April 1917 during the Arras Offensive. He is buried in Brown’s Copse Cemetery, Roeux, near Arras, France.
Sidney and Gilbert are not commemorated in Badgeworth or on any local war memorial. Their father, Mr Charles John Scriven, resided at Godfrey House, The Reddings, Cheltenham. |
