“Cheltonians” buried in this Cemetery

2Lt Arnold ALDRICH, 1/8th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment, is buried in Plot I, Row A, Grave 9.

He was serving in the Asiago Plateau area of Italy when on 1st May 1918 he was thrown from his horse and killed.

He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial, theLeckhampton War Memorial, theLeckhampton (St Peter’s Church) War Memorial and on the Cheltenham Roll of Honour.

He left a widow, Mrs Gertrude Alice Aldrich, who resided at “Enderley”, Charlton Lane, Leckhampton.

Lt Aldrich’s date of death is inscribed on his headstone as 2nd May 1918.   Communications with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (2006) has provided documentary evidence to show that he died on 1st May 1918 and the CWGC will amend the headstone in due course.
