Unveiling Of The Parish Church Boy’s School War Memorial

Notes:

1.   The programme for the unveiling ceremony, and a commemorative plaque in St Mary’s Church, state that 100 Old Boys are commemorated on the War Memorial.   98 names are actually recorded, and the draft copies of the list of names to be commemorated have been traced in a file at the Gloucestershire County Archives.

2.   Two names noted on one draft of the list do not appear on the War Memorial.   These are MORRIS and MULHEARN and from other information found in the files these are thought to be:

• James Ernest MORRIS, 2nd Bn KRRC, died of wounds in France on 15th July 1916.

• William Edward MULHEARN, 10th Fd Coy Canadian Engineers, killed in action in Belgium on 27th October 1917.
