“Cheltonians” buried in this Cemetery

Private Joseph Richard STONEMAN, 8th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment, is buried in Row C, Grave 17.

 

He was killed in action on 30th July 1916 during an attack by the battalion between High Wood and Pozieres during the Battle of the Somme.

 

He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial.

 

He resided at 10 Naunton Terrace, Cheltenham before the war and a Elizabeth Rebecca Stoneman was residing there in 1918.
