Notes: 1. Subsequent to The Military Service Act 1916, the Training Reserve was formed in September 1916 to train all new recruits for the front line. All Regular Reserve units of county infantry regiments lost their original title and became numbered battalions of the Training Reserve – see here for a more detailed explanation. In late 1917 the Training Reserve was further reorganised to bring Training Reserve battalions back into the Regimental system. |
