Pte Herbert Owen CASSIDY, 1st Battalion East Lancashire Regiment, is buried in Row A, Grave 66.   His is the middle headstone in the photo above.

He died of pneumonia in a German Army medical unit, whilst a Prisoner of War of the Germans, on the 16th July 1918.   He was 39 years old.

Pte Cassidy is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial and on the St Stephens’s Church Roll of Honour.

His mother, Mrs Edith F Cassidy, resided at “Rylstone” 46, Lansdown Crescent, Cheltenham.
