Private John Francis PRIVETT, Depot King’s Shropshire Light Infantry, is buried in Plot IV.CE.20.

He died in the 1st (Western) Hospital RAMC, Fazakerley, Liverpool, on 4th July 1917, aged 39.

He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial.

His sister, Mrs Elizabeth Alice Herbert, resided at Promenade House, Crescent Terrace, Cheltenham and later at 13, Clarence Square, Cheltenham.

His brother, Ernest, who served in the South Lancs Regt during the war, resided at 12 Fairview Street, Cheltenham.

Notes:

1.   The cemetery was visited on Saturday 26th February 2005 but Pte Privett’s grave could not be located.   The grave’s location in the Debt of Honour Register at the CWGC indicated an unmarked plot – though his name is inscribed on the screen wall (see photos above).
