2Lt Alan Francis Donald Brown, 1st Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment, was killed in action on 8th September 1916 near High Wood, Somme.   His body was never recovered from the battlefield and he is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial To The Missing

His brother, Lieutenant Kenneth Wallace BROWN, 6th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment, was accidentally drowned near the West Pier, Blyth, on 24th August 1917.   He is buried in the Churchyard at Plot C.1.1.

The brothers are commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial and the St Stephen’s Church Roll of Honour.

Their mother, Mrs Emma Brown, resided at 2 Libertus Villas, Libertus Road, Cheltenham
