Commemorations in the Church

Major James CARNEGY, 8th Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment, is commemorated on a brass plaque in the church.  

He was killed in action on 3rd July 1916 in the Somme area of France.   He has no known grave and is listed on the Thiepval Memorial To The Missing.   

He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial, the St Philip’s Church War Memorial and on The Cheltenham (Library) Roll of Honour.

Major Carnegy is also commemorated on the family grave in Edge Churchyard (photo below).

Major James CARNEGY, 8th Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment, is commemorated on the family obelisk in the churchyard.  

He was killed in action on 3rd July 1916 in the Le Boisselle area of France during the Battle of The Somme.   He has no known grave and is listed on the Thiepval Memorial To The Missing.   

He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial, the St Philip’s Church War Memorial and on The Cheltenham (Library) Roll of Honour.
