Captain John Champain TANNER, Royal Air Force, was killed in a flying accident in the UK on 1st August 1918 and is buried in the St Mary’s Churchyard Extension, Eversley, Hants.   The grave is recognised by the CWGC and his name is included in the Debt of Honour Register.

He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial the All Saints Church War Memorial and the St Luke’s Church Roll of Honour.

His father, the Rev Maurice Tanner an assistant master at Cheltenham College, resided at “Christowe”, Sandford Road, Cheltenham.

On Capt Tanner’s grave is the wooden remembrance cross placed there on 29th March 2003.
