Pte Edgar Gideon WICKSEY, 123rd Pioneer Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force is buried in Plot I, Row A, Grave 36.
He was killed in action, aged 28, on 10th November 1917 during the Battle of Passchendaele, Belgium.
He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial, the St Paul’s Church War Memorial and the Bethesda Church Roll of Honour.
His parents, Gideon and Mary Ann Wicksey, resided at 3 Park Place, Cheltenham. His great-granddaughter, Mrs Jesse Melhuish, resides in Toronto, Canada.
The inscription on the headstone reads ” BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART FOR THEY SHALL SEE GOD” |
