Pte Ernest Henry HARRIS, Royal Army Medical Corps, is commemorated on the grave of his father, Joseph Henry Harris.
Pte Harris died at sea on 10th April 1917 when the Hospital Ship HMHS Salta was sunk by a mine off the port of Le Havre, France.
He is not commemorated on any local Memorial or Roll of Honour, although it is recorded in the Debt of Honour Register at the CWGC that he was a “Native of Elmstone Hardwick, Cheltenham”.
He is commemorated on the Salta Memorial in the St Marie Cemetery, Le Havre.
His mother, Mrs Annie Sarah Yarnold later resided at 5, Royal Parade, Cheltenham. |
