Cheltonians buried in this Cemetery

Pte Charles BIGGS, 1st Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment, was wounded in action on 13th October 1915 during the actions at the Hohenzollern Redoubt near Loos.   He was evacuated to a hospital in Stoke and died of wounds on 26th October 1915.   He is buried in grave 4064.

He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial and on the Sevenhampton (St Andrew’s Church) Roll of Honour.

He was born in Sevenhampton, Glos, in 1892 and was residing there with his parents, Charles and Sarah Ann Biggs in 1901.

At the base of Pte Biggs’ headstone is the small wooden remembrance cross placed there on 31st July 2005.
