Short History of the 17th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment TF

Formed at Walton-on-the-Naze on 1st January 1917, from the 82nd Provisional Battalion (which in turn had been formed in June 1915 initially from TF Home Service personnel of 4th, 5th and 6th Battalions of the Gloucestershire Regiment).   Based in Clacton with the 226th Infantry Brigade on Home Defence duties.
