Commemorations in the Church

Cpl Cecil Hugh POPE, The Household Battalion, ex 1st Life Guards, is commemorated on an alabaster plaque.   He was killed in action in the Poelcappelle area of Belgium on 10th October 1917 during the Third Battle of Ypres.   He has no known grave and is listed on the Tyne Cot Memorial.

He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial and on the Elkstone (St John’s Church) Roll of Honour.

His connection with Cheltenham is not known.
