Pte Maurice HARFORD, 12th Battalion Somerset Light Infantry, is buried in Plot D.143A He died of illness in the 4th (Northern) General Hospital, Lincoln, on 5th April 1919, aged 20. He is commemorated on the Elms Roll of Honour and name is also included in a Roll of Honour published in the Gloucestershire Echo on 10th February 1921, but he is not commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial. He resided at “Berverston”, Keynsham Street, Cheltenham. At the base of Pte Harford’s headstone is the small wooden remembrance cross placed there on 2nd July 2005 by Mr David James. |
