Cpl William Elliott COOK, 8th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force is buried in the churchyard.

 

He died on 11th February 1926, aged 37.

 

He is commemorated on the Boddington (St Mary Magdalene Church) Roll of Honour.

 

His parents, Edward William and Elizabeth Cook, resided at Slate Mill, Boddington.   He married Julia Chandler Crump in 1919 after discharge from the Army.

 

Cook’s grave is not an official or recognised CWGC headstone.   Cpl Cook died of illness on 11th February 1926, some eight years after the Armistice.    He is not listed in the Debt of Honour Register at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission as he died outside of the official commemorative dates of 4th August 1914 to 31st August 1921.

Pte Leonard Long BICK, 16th Bn Royal Warks Regt, killed in action at Arras, France on 13th March 1917, is commemorated on the family grave in this churchyard.   This commemoration can be viewed here.
