Band Cpl (listed as Pte) William James SMITH, 1/5th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment is commemorated on this Roll of Honour.
He died of TB in the Cotswold Sanatorium, Cranham, on 18th February 1915 and is buried in Cheltenham Cemetery.
He was 37 years old.
He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial, the St John’s Church War Memorial, the Charlton Kings War Memorial and the Charlton Kings (St Mary’s Church) Roll of Honour.
He resided at 12, Churchill Road, Naunton Park, Cheltenham and left a widow, Alice, and two children, who later moved to Chester.
