Cheltenham Roll of Honour – European War 1914 – 19.   The basis of this Roll of Honour was a list drawn up by Mr Walter Ansell, sub-editor of the Gloucestershire Echo, and extensively revised by Mr T H Packer, from announcements of fatalities published during the war from various local and official sources.   Modern day comparisons with official lists and research shows that there were some errors and omissions.
